Caution!
Please be aware that for the most part my memoir may appear negative and may seem depressing depending on your perspective, it does not have a positive conclusion as I continue to suffer greatly from OCD and other related problems. .If you are very depressed or sensitive it may be better to avoid my memoir and other personal writings on my website. There are more positive sections for you to visit such as inspirational quotes, self help and the gallery.

Please take into consideration that all illnesses whether they are physical or mental vary in degree of severity from person to person. I sufferer quite severely and chronically with  OCD however it most certainly does not mean that you will. A lot has changed over the years since I was first diagnosed with this disorder and the prognosis is now more positive. Moreover my autobiographies including my memoir above and the shorter version My story and my blog are not intended as a methods of self help. There are plenty of excellent self help books on the market - see recommended books. The purpose of the aforementioned autobiographical accounts is to highlight the emotional pain that can be experienced by sufferers of severe OCD in an attempt to increase public awareness and better understanding for both carers and professionals. I also hoped that by sharing my experiences that sufferers may as a consequence feel less alone. It is not my intention to make anyone feel hopeless or depressed any more than they would be by visiting the cinema and seeing the Aviator. Although my OCD is chronic and severe it is nonetheless not as severe or as incapacitating as that suffered by Howard Hughes.

My Story.

The following is the updated original short autobiographical account I wrote for a phobic group upon which my memoir above was based. After writing this a friend suggested that it might form the basis of a book, which from than onwards I spent the next twelve years struggling to complete often interrupted by illness including OCD, severe headaches and migraine. I thought it might be a good idea to include the original short autobiography entitled My Story as not everyone may wish to read through my extensive 552 page memoir. It has been updated to reflect the present situation and I have added appropriate quotations relating to OCD and from OCD sufferers in selected places throughout the document. However for a full and detailed account of my experiences as a sufferer of OCD you are advised to read the complete memoir.

E-book Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners by John Bunyon.

It is believed that John Bunyon the author of Pilgrims progress may have suffered from religious/scrupulosity OCD. This book written in seventieth century English is by no means an easy read, nonetheless this autobiography provides a very informative glimpse into scrupulosity/ religious OCD and is well worth the effort to at least read the sections pertaining to his experiences with this manifestation of the disorder. Those who suffer from scrupulosity/ religious OCD will feel less alone after reading John Buynon’s remarkable and insightful account.
